BAND SAWS
Band Saws get their name from their distinctive blade, which consists of a continuous metal band with teeth along one edge. Generally, a band saw blade is propelled by two or more band wheels that allow it to rotate at high speeds—many times exceeding 1,000 revolutions per minute. The high speed and the unique geometry of the blade’s teeth allow the band saw blade to cut through a wide variety of metals and profiles at varying dimensions and angles. For example, drill line band saws are used for cutting industrial steel beams. Many metal band saws also have brushes included that brush away the metal chips that would otherwise clog or dull the blade, and coolant systems help to keep the blade cool and well lubricated.
